Train yourself to be a positive thinker

You can be a force for positive change in the world. You can choose to do this right now. All it takes is the desire and then the focus. That’s it. It’s so simple.
And yet, why does it seem so difficult? Why does this concept seem like we are on the treadmill going so fast and we are trailing behind about to fall off.
First of all, we are living in a really fast paced world and it is so easy to become overwhelmed. Our email boxes are crammed with messages daily. The cell phone rings off the hook. We have obligations from every single angle adding complication after complication. It actually seems hard to focus on anything let alone something that seems to be cutting against the surface.
So, on your Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter or Facebook, a meme comes across your feed constantly. A beautiful picture with a short quotation telling you something wonderful about pliving or creating beauty in the world. A meme is a quick idea. You look at it. You may even find some joy out of it in the moment and then you move onto something else in your life…. Until the next internet meme.
Let’s face it, we are inundated with this rhetoric all the time and we barely have the time to take notice, let alone do something about it. And that’s the point, do something. Take notice. Moving forward is one of the greatest things we can do in our lives.
Use the information that is useful. When I was a kid, I had a sign hanging on my wall that said “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” Well, I only waited till life handed me lemons to make lemonade, but the truth of the matter is … Go out and find some lemons, … Be creative with them. Make a lemon cake instead.
Be positive. Engage yourself. And keep doing it because you have been trained to accept the what’s wrong with our lives, rather than concentrating on the right. We just love to play the victim. But that’s another story for another day. Until then, Be the most invincible version of you that you can imagine.

Win Tomorrow Today!

At Jo’s coffee shop in Austin… with Ginnie…20170218_215705338_ios I celebrate the fact that I submitted an application for coaching to JB Glossinger, the Morning Coach. I listen to his phenomenal podcast almost every single day.  The truth is though, that I feel that his brand of coaching is so beyond my means, but I also felt that I could no longer not ask for it.  I pat myself on the shoulder for making the move.  Imperfect action.  We’ll see… in the past, I would feel that if something was beyond my means, it wasn’t even worth asking for.  I’d be too disappointed if the answer is a staunch “NO”… but truth is I’ve gotten “NO” for an answer “many, many times” (You’d have to ask me about that particular phrase and I’d have a really great story on that) and I’ve definitely lived through the tragedy, pain and turmoil of it all.  It’s all good.

Reprogram Your Mind to Be Great

It20170201_023941000_ios is known that we human beings only utilize a small percentage of our brain capacity.

That said, what is our brain, or rather our mind saying to us? On a frequent basis. Only you know the answer to that. You need to listen in to what your mind is telling you about your life.

How can we utilize the power of our brains to think on our feet better, to do things we only thought we could not do, to believe in our power to go beyond and achieve things that we previously thought we weren’t able to.

I can’t. Other people can, but not me. Perfect example of a limiting belief. The only reason we know others can is because they did. But we can and we could and we will and then and only then we did.

That’s the invincible part of our being that needs to be programmed with the right energy and thoughts. We can reprogram our brains to believe we can. That’s in our very core. And it is only a fragment of tiny piece of what we can do if we put our minds to it. Infinitesimal, in fact. Not even .0001% of that ten percent of brain power, we do have the knowledge and the power to use. Everyone of us has this ability. It’s built into our humanity. So they can, you can, we can and I can!

It does take training. It does take desire and passion. It absolutely takes determination. It can be done. And with an invincible mindset, it will be done.

What is the difference between a resolution and a commitment?

20170107_043616000_iosA resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something or the action of solving a problem.  A commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity.

When you resolve to do something, it is laying down the groundwork for the future.  It’s like saying, I’m going to do it this time.  The reason that a resolution is often put into the background and not accomplished is that one really hasn’t committed to their decision to solve the problem.

So, are you going to commit to something or resolutely plan to do it?  Are you going to be forever in the mode of planning to solve the problem or are you going to actually solve it?  It’s up to you.  It always has been.

Becoming Wealthy

thumb

There is nothing more powerful than thoughts, words and beliefs.  These are the ideas that are the cornerstone of who we are and who we become.

We understand who we are based on what we think we are and then we go about our business of creating this in our reality.

So, if I were to say, “I can be wealthy, and so can you,” wouldn’t that be a great place to start?  And the answer would be, not exactly.  It is great to believe in thought that each of us can be prosperous financially.   In fact, each of us most probably already believes that we can be wealthy.  And the reason for that?  It’s quite simple.  Hope.

We hope we will be wealthy.  But can we set our financial futures on hope?  Or rather, should we?

No.  Hope is not enough.  A better place to start your belief system is much clearer.  “I will be wealthy.  I will be prosperous.”  Will eliminates hope.  Once you get this and it becomes your clarity, then you can begin your journey.

Daily Prompt: Silence

image.jpegvia Daily Prompt: Silence

It’s that introspective moment.  Think, don’t act.

You can accomplish so much with so little.  Silence.

Leave the stress elsewhere.  Silence.

The truly funny thing is that, there does not need to be complete quiet.  The outside world will continue it’s buzzing about.  Airplanes will still clamor above you.  Trains will still grind upon the tracks.  Automobiles will still be honking. Other people will still be living their lives around you, watching their televisions, listening to their music, laughing with each other or for that matter, fighting.

Find your personal balance.  Relate to the world from within and you will find your own personal silence.  It’s there for the taking.  And you can grab it and run with it.  There is so much to learn and achieve when you find it.

And then, share it.  Share it with the world.  Share it freely.  Share it wisely.

Silence. Take the time for yourself and do it.

Success After 50! 10 people who made it once they hit their golden years.

Don’t believe that old cliché about middle-aged dogs and new tricks. Lots of wildly successful people found big success in careers they began after their fiftieth birthdays. Here are just a few examples.

1. COLONEL SANDERS

Harland Sanders was no slouch as a young man, but he didn’t become the string-tied chicken mogul we know and love until he was 65. “The Colonel” had a relatively successful restaurant and motel on U.S. 25 in Corbin, KY, but when Interstate 75 opened seven miles from Sanders’ restaurant, his business begin to dwindle. Rather than go broke, he began to work on perfecting his spice blend and quick-cooking technique for making fried chicken in 1952. He then began touring the country selling Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises, and by the time he sold the business for $2 million in 1964, there were over 900 of them.

2. LAURA INGALLS WILDER

Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie series may be some of the world’s most beloved children’s books, but she was no spring chicken when she sat down to write them. Wilder didn’t publish her first novel until she was 65 years old, and she still managed to crank out 12 books in her series, although some were published posthumously.

3 & 4. TIM AND NINA ZAGAT

The husband-and-wife team behind the popular dining surveys of the same name were corporate lawyers when they first started printing their restaurant guides. Eventually the guides became so popular that Tim left his job as corporate counsel for Gulf & Western to manage the business in 1986 when he was 51 years old. Nina eventually left the corporate law world to work on the dining surveys as well. In 2011, Google bought Zagat for $151 million.

5. TAKICHIRO MORI

You don’t have to start early to become the richest man in the world. Mori was an economics professor until he left academia at age 55 to become a real estate investor in 1959. Mori had recently inherited a couple of buildings from his father, and he jumped headfirst into Tokyo’s real estate scene. Mori started his second career by investing in the Minato ward where he spent his childhood, and within a matter of years he was presiding over Japan’s real estate boom.

When Mori died in 1993, he was Forbes‘ two-time reigning world’s richest man with a net worth of around $13 billion. He was something of a Japanese precursor to Warren Buffett, though. Mori never seemed totally comfortable with the fame and fortune his second career won him. He dressed traditionally, abstained from alcohol, and lived a fairly modest life.

6. GRANDMA MOSES

Anna Mary Robertson Moses is one of the biggest names in American folk art, and she didn’t even pick up a brush until she was well into her eighth decade. Grandma Moses was originally a big fan of embroidery, but once her arthritis grew too painful for her to hold a needle, she decided to give painting a try in the mid-1930s. She was 76 when she cranked out her first canvas, and she lived another 25 years as a painter—long enough to see the canvases she had sold for $3 fetch prices north of $10,000.

7. A. C. BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI PRABHUPADA

The founder of the Hare Krishna movement was 69 years old before he started the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. In his native India, Prabhupada had been a chemist and a Sanskrit scholar in Calcutta, but in 1965 he came to New York City with just fifty bucks, a pair of cymbals, and a desire to spread the teachings of Lord Krishna.

Prabhupada got off to a modest start by sitting on a sidewalk in the East Village and chanting, but by the time of his death in 1977 his legions of followers were rumored to be thousands strong.

8. EDMOND HOYLE

Whether or not you know it, you probably owe Hoyle a tip of the cap each time you reach for a deck of cards. The Englishman is considered to be the world’s first technical writer on the rules of card games, and he didn’t put pen to paper as a young card sharp. Hoyle was around 70 years old when he first began recording the rules of various card games in 1741; over the last 27 years of his life, his smash hit A Short Treatise on the Game of Whist went through over a dozen editions.

9. RAY KROC

Ray Kroc was an American entrepreneur best known for expanding McDonald’s from a local chain to the world’s most profitable restaurant franchise operation.  was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on October 5, 1902. Kroc worked as a salesman for 17 years after World War I, before becoming involved with McDonald’s in the 1950s. Kroc purchased the restaurant company in 1961, implementing automation and strict preparation standards that helped make McDonald’s the world’s largest restaurant franchise before his death in 1984, at the age of 81.

QUOTES
“I guess to be an entrepreneur you have to have a large ego, enormous pride and an ability to inspire others to follow your lead.”

10. RONALD REAGAN

Sure, Reagan had been a famous actor, but he wasn’t elected to his first public office until he was 55 years old. In 1966 Reagan won California’s gubernatorial race by over a million votes. Prior to his election, Reagan had done some politicking as the president of the Screen Actors Guild and as spokesman for General Electric, but nothing on his resume made him look like a sure-fire two-term president. (And after a tennis tournament benefit for the Nancy Reagan Drug Abuse Fund in 1988, the Gipper got to meet a young Johnny Depp.

I Had A Visitor!

visitor officeEveryone in the blogging world must know that it feels great to have that first visitor to their site.  Well, I had that today.  I’m actually a touch embarrassed because the site isn’t much yet.  But it still felt awesome to see that one person out there in InternetLand visited this page… And not through a Google Ad or a Facebook lead, just a natural visit.

What brought them here?  Who cares?  I do, but that stats aren’t that informative and if they are I don’t know how to use them yet.  Is that what Google Analytics does.

Either way, I’m commemorating it with this post because its like that first dollar that a restaurant tapes on the wall.  Its the start of the business and it deserves a nod.  Thank you, first visitor, where ever you are.  Welcome. Please come back again.
